This is Sd.Kfz.254 combined with a wheeled and caterpillar-tracked vehicle. It is a German armored vehicle developed and manufactured by the Saurer company in Austria. Once you see it, it is a unique form that can not be forgotten, so I think there are many interested people, not only German AFV fans.
Even a small amount of photo-etched parts does not matter if the part of the plastic is precise.
First, the chassis is assembled before installing the wheel and suspension.
This area is a feature of this kit. It looks complicated, but it was not very difficult to assemble.
The capstan wheel and caterpillar pitches didn’t match many times in Hobby Boss kits. After checking this kit, it seems to be assembled without problems. That’s good.

Parts of the track are cut out. It is not only in the photograph. It was still in the box a little more. It is hard to cut out.
The assembly of the caterpillar was no problem at all. Very easy to assemble, easy to separate parts. The number of caterpillar parts is sufficient. It can be recovered even if there are malformed or lost.

As you can see, the original picture of a package painting is! Well, the direction of the caterpillar is different. I believed the Hobby boss had many traps, and it was stupid.
However, when looking at this, it is attached in the same direction as the instruction manual of Hobby Boss. Looking at examples of various models, I do not know whether it is blinded to Hobby Boss instruction or individual judgment, but there are many examples in the same direction. However, since the direction of the previous photograph is many, I will make it in a reverse direction if I start it again. Well, let’s go with it this time.

Assembly was completed. The loop antenna, vertical antenna, rearview mirror, headlight, etc., many parts are easily damaged. I finished it as durable as possible using the adhesive for plastics and instant adhesive in combination.
There was a part where I could not figure out how to assemble by just looking at the instructions, such as the armor plate in the front part of the vehicle and the backside of it. It may be a mistake.
The lower half is a pretty intricate structure so I will pay attention to that no paint remains on the airbrush. While I’m doing weathering in various ways, I think that the remaining paint will disappear.
I painted it with dark yellow like the Afrika Korps vehicle.
I pasted the decals, which were completed by weathering a little more.

This Sd.Kfz.254 was manufactured by Saurer, and the total production number was 128. It was used as an artillery observer and a reconnaissance car.
Even now, tanks are required vehicles and railroads when traveling a long distance, so it seems pretty useful at first glance that this caterpillar and tire vehicle will be helpful.
Although no conspicuous gap occurred, I filed the burr to smooth the surface to match the joint of the polyhedron body.
I can choose the state of the caterpillar running and its position using the wheel, which is a movable structure. However, it is better to fix it to obtain strength. I made it in the four-wheel running state.
The marking is the German Afrika Korps, the 15th Armored Division familiar with General Rommel. The division mark is a red triangle. The 15th Armored Division was originally a reorganization of the 33rd Infantry Division and was active in North Africa from 1941 to 1943. The Division was surrounded by the Allied forces and surrendered in 1943.
In assembly, the tire was running condition, and the suspension was lowered and fixed with glue firmly. This adjustment was surprisingly tricky. It is a very peculiar AFV.
A hatch doesn’t glue, opening and shutting together as both are possible. I want to set a German tank crew on it later.
The position of the tire running is unusually high in the car height. It is likely to roll over as the crosswind blows.
Because it is a rare structured vehicle, it was fun to build. The package’s German gray is also good. I think the car with the palm tree mark of the German Afrika Korps is very cool.

I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build them little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see me here occasionally.

Sd.Kfz.254 is an interesting AFV. Please be careful about the direction of the caterpillar track. My work may be wrong.
I’m in the process of building this kit and was wondering if it would an impossible task to make the front wheels steerable? Model looks boring with all 4 wheels straight.
Hello!! I made it a long time ago, so I forgot about it, but it was difficult to set the angle of the wheels. I think there wasn’t much space. I guess it’s just a kit for enjoying unusual shape.
