I’ll build this Russian Scud missile and 8-wheel sizeable military vehicle. This kit was released long ago. The strong appeal is very satisfactory and seems to be awakened to the charm of the large vehicles. Since it was before the smart kit and premium edition era that many photo-etched parts were contained, I was prepared for complex assembly. Words were terrible, but more than I had imagined…
When assembling parts like this mountain, it will look like a package… Although it is before building, it seems like a rough kit.
Cut the soft vinyl chloride plate yourself and paste it from the inside into the window frame. I’m not a window frame craftsman, so I wonder whether it will work that way.
I wrote something sarcastic as a bad thing above; it is a fun kit to build. Always keep an airbrush on one side. I roughly masked the windows and painted the inside of the vehicle white, touching up with the brush only around the window.
Box building of the driver’s compartment is a great difficulty. I made a lot of steps and gaps, so it would be necessary to fill in patches when putting together large modules. Because I cannot get a final image of what kind of shape it is, I’m working on it with trial and error.

It is amazing to be a hungry marketing Dragon kit in Japan. Even though it is an old kit, it is easy to obtain today. The gate is thick, and there are also many burrs.
Finally, when the driver’s compartment is over, the missile fire control system room is next. This kit includes almost the interior. Amazingly, the interior is prepared though it’s old. Maybe the reason is there are many windows. Honestly, I am not interested in the interior, so assembly and painting are a little challenging.
It looks like an old SF movie set. It’s a launch control room; some decals are attached.
Various large parts are finished. I do not yet understand the whole picture.

I started to assemble the chassis. It’s easy to understand with a feeling of stability from a base.
Because the axle seemed relatively weak, I filled the gaps with plastic putty, super glue was also used, and more putty was added and firmly fixed. The direction of the tire did not change from the first, as I could not see the tire’s backside very much. I thought to make it firmly. I was relieved when all eight wheels were grounded cleanly.
I am afraid I do not know whether assembling is failing or going well until I combine the last big module on the chassis. There are many burrs and distortion, and it is uneasy as much as a part cannot be appropriately assembled. I am confident that the German III tank or IV tank, I will build up without collapse until the very end, but I do not understand such a new genre well. It seems like I’m reading a mystery novel. Building pace keeps fast. I got tired a little.
Though it is to be said from the old days, Dragon’s instructions do not count on as many mistakes. I imagined and assembled it with feeling. There are times when the part number and illustrations and their finished products are different from each other. There are many different parts, numbers, pictures, and finished parts.

Assembly of Scud missiles. The missile body is about 30cm in total length; the diameter is about 2.5cm.
It is masking with a lot of windows to use masking sol. I used the sol this time because it seems likely to come off when pressure is applied to the windows. Adhered firmly to the transparent parts of PVC, it is difficult to correct if it falls in the compartment and operation rooms.
There is a sense of precision in the rear part of the truck, and quite good.
It is in a transit situation, so the fixed jack is glued in the raised position.
It is terrible that the part number of the manual is full of mistakes. The mistakes of E and F of the runner and the number itself are many mistakes, and it isn’t easy to understand. I thought it was the worst explanation when I made a Dragon’s sFH 18 heavy howitzer kit; this kit also has some problematic parts. As I got angry with it, I repeated it…
This vigorous looking is lovely! It was troublesome to assemble, and I wrote many bad things. Forgive it for the time being! Before painting, there is enough presence. Maybe there are detailed parts of mistakes, but it’s okay. Finally, I’ll put it in the overall paint.
Thinking about the display on my shelves, it would be this transport position.
Since it is a large AFV, a 0.5mm airbrush is helpful for base paint. I could finish painting pretty quickly.

There is no big mistake in what color you use. In the Dragon’s manual, the base color of the truck is a mixed color of #320 Green 80% and #312 green FS34227 20%. On the other hand, #302 Green FS34092 is in the Trumpeter’s manual. The Scud missile itself was Creos Mr. Color #330, dark green.
The wheel was ordered in gross black, but I painted it matte black. It is pleasant to work to paint a giant tire with a brush.
I finished pasting the decals. Since there were no instructions for pasting about the Soviet Army, I searched variously, added my preference, and became like a photo.

Scud missile variations are type A to type D, and this vehicle is equipped with Scud B type. This range is about 300 km; it can be set as chemical weapons and nuclear warheads in addition to the standard warheads.
Scud missile B type is an R-11 ballistic missile that the former Soviet Union started deploying in 1965.
The weapons of the Soviet Union were exported to many countries, including former communist countries and developing countries that were deeply connected with the communist zone. Copies were made in China, North Korea, Egypt, etc., and exported to more countries. In the end, Iran and Pakistan also acquired rocket technology and influenced nuclear weapon proliferation.
The power of a nuclear missile is considered in various cases as it is influenced by the size of nuclear warheads and the altitude at the time of the explosion. During the actual war, it was used in the Yom Kippur War, the Iran-Iraq War, the Afghanistan Invasion, and the Gulf War. Typically warhead firepower seems to be about a 15-story building disappearing. Even if you are standing at a radius of 100 m, you will be blown off by a blast, so if you get hit directly, you may be in danger even if you are in the basement.
The missiles Iraq launched into Israel in the Gulf War were Scud. Although the human damage is not light, I think that the Scud of Iraq and the V2 rocket of Nazi Germany are similar in that they greatly influence civic life.
MAZ means Minsk Automobile Plant. This vehicle carries Scud missiles, and this MAZ-543 is a large military vehicle driven by eight wheels. There is a dent between the driver’s seat on the right and left, characterized by a space for missile transport.
This heavy-duty vehicle is also diverted for civilian use and is used for crane vehicles, chemical protective vehicles, ordinary heavy-duty trucks, etc.
Although it is not a vehicle for running off-road, it may be a dirty exercise for a long time. Even if it runs on a tire, it does not move only on paved roads.
I can also stand the launch pad. This kind of position is well photographed when taking pictures, but the display on my shelf it’s space-consuming unless it is a transportation position.
I have done weathering lightly, such as washing the part hidden under the missile.
I saw a launch scene with a video. It’s similar to the launch of the space shuttle. Both sound and smoke are fantastic.
The edge of this big tire is round. Remarkably, the mold stands out.
This overwhelming presence is good. There were many difficulties in building, and it was hard to reinforce many invisible parts. It is engaging in a large-sized 1/48 airplane plastic model. I recently did not make a big plastic model with AFV, so it’s fun. I feel excellent when I watch it.
It turns over or peeps from the underside. I didn’t erase the pinch pin traces; it is suitable for decorating. Dealing with everything makes me quite tired.
The Trumpeter kit seems better if you buy and make it now, even if the price is high. How about trying this kit, like a person piling up old kits like me? When you start making it, there are many problems, but it will be completed.
