Tamiya SU-122, pretty old kit. I started making it with the flow of the Soviet Army infantry figure I made last time.
I plan to use this track of the AFV Club T-34. This is a package photo; I noticed the turret is facing backward.
The filing of the parting line of these tires, the number of the road wheels is only 5 for one side, not a big deal.
The appearance of the tracks dramatically increases after changing to the AFV Club or the third-party kit. The belt caterpillar of Tamiya gets rounded when wrapped around it, and I think there is no way because it is an old kit. There is no sense of many plates jointing one by one.
The belt-type caterpillar mold is not harmful. There are no molds on the backside. The actual tracks are also such a feeling. Anyway, I will change it for the plastic track parts of the AFV Club.
We can select whether the spare fuel tank is attached or only the mounting bracket to the tank. At first, I was planning to use the mounting bracket and shape the parts, but my mind changed to using all the fuel tanks.
I do not know the mold well because the injection plastic color is dark.
The figure is not fixed to the tank, but the angle of the hatch has adjusted to the figure pose and glued.
I usually coat under gloss black recently, but since it is challenging to control gloss and matt, I painted with flat black from the beginning. I noticed that I forgot to make two ropes at this time.
The attached Russian tank soldier after blowing the surfacer. The head changed, it is an old kit, but it’s not too bad.

The primary color of the dark green paint the airbrush with a few light and shade levels.
The chassis is similar to T-34/76, so the performance of running in the mud is outstanding. The maintenance was done quickly compared with German tanks. I wonder if the ride quality was not so good.
It is said that the German type III self-propelled assault gun was successful as a weapon, and SU-122 was produced about this German tank. Because the SU-122 has the width of the caterpillar and tilted armor, the performance is better than the German type III. It is operated by five crew. There are reserve fuel tanks to extend the mileage to 300 km, and the maximum speed was 55 km. The total number of production was about 1,200.
It is a tank with a considerably low height. I think the odds of being found by the enemy are pretty low.
I made the headlight with clear resin.
The platform on which the tank soldiers can be placed is set in the tank and comes out of the hatch at exactly the height.
The German type III assault gun has a shape with many vertical and horizontal lines with a design concept similar to Panzerkampfwagen III. This SU-122, which diverted the chassis of T-34, uses tilted armor and enhances defense power.
Recently these are old overseas dramas; now I am addicted to “Battlestar Galactica” and “Walking Dead.” The character of Galactica’s doctor is very funny and cool. I like him very much. I am in the middle of Season 2; it is one of the masterpieces. You can enjoy it even if you are not an SF fan.
It is assembled without taking much time as there are few parts. Although it is an old kit, I think that many made it because Tamiya sold this kit with a weathering painting set for a while. The work of fitting the polyester cap on the wheel was strangely nostalgic. I remember the time when I was a boy. Recently, I’ve been making many quite old kits.
