It was interesting to make a female Russian tank crew before, so I made different figures without thinking. Bronya and Mariel from Girls in Action. It is tiny but a little expensive. However, the scale is only 1/35, so it is not that large.
I wanted to make a 1mm hole on the sole of their feet to fix it to the base for painting, but I couldn’t because it was too thin. I think I will paint it after fixing it with double-sided tape. I can’t even tape Mariel. The 1/35 male military figure I usually make has enough space on the soles; it looks like a girl with thin arms and legs.
I was wondering about Mariel’s hair color. I ended up with a bright blond. I toned it with a Naples yellow and white.
It’s challenging to paint Mariel and hard to fix the figure.
I thought I should paint as if she was wearing black stockings, so I thought it would be better to paint the foundation in skin color. In conclusion, it seems to have been meaningless work.
The Girls in Action series of Zilpla has no example of painting, so I think it’s best to finish it in my favorite color. I don’t know much about women’s dresses, so I hope to have some samples.
Bronya’s kit has a papercraft tank, so it might be a tank soldier motif. But it looks like a flying suit. I always paint khaki and moss green uniforms, so I paint them in different colors sometimes.
After considering some plans, I painted a Bronya jacket, and then I realized it was Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I miss it. I remember going to a movie theater with my friend in my second year of junior high school. It’s a movie I like, and I bought a DVD and all seven comic books. But at this age, when I think about it calmly, Nausicaa seems a little strange. It would be terrible if there were such girls around.
I tried painting Mariel’s dress with red and black stockings. It’s a pose with a hand on a desk or something, so it’s unstable.
She has a gun, so I guess she is an agent from some country.
There is a pistol holster on the garter stockings. It’s a little hard to see in the picture.
Bronya was a sharp mold, but Mariel’s face mold was not so clear, so it was hard to decide what kind of expression to choose. I made both at the same time. I prefer Bronya. Military uniform figures are easier to paint for me.
