It is a modern American tank crew made in July 2015 same time as the Stryker MGS. These days I am interested in painting with oil.
Currently, I’m building Stryker armored car 105mm gun-mounted type. It’s good timing to build my stock Alpine’s Modern US AFV Crew.
The head can be chosen in two types: an infantry ordinary helmet Fritz type, and an AFV crew helmet. Two of them wear bulletproof vests.
I noticed almost every US soldier equips knee pads. Some of them are shifting pads to his ankle. The condition of the wrinkle around the pistol holster belt on his thigh is real. There are similar poses in the Trumpeter’s plastic figure kit.
What is he holding in his hand? Maybe it’s a cigarette. Both figures’ mold and face are excellent and very detailed, but I’m worried about painting so small areas…

Everything is painted in oil this time, too. The uniform was first painted in light beige base color, and I painted the helmet and desert boots.
The uniform is like a digital camouflage pattern. Is coloring light gray and dark gray? It seems to be good to mix some blues.
I have sore eyes!!! I drew the dark gray camouflage pattern.

I have finished the painting of these Alpine Miniatures figures. I painted all by oil painting. It’s like a digital camouflage of the US NAVY against my will. I should have started painting after checking more details. Slightly dark gray was too dark. But it may be seen in MARPAT (Marine Pattern) of the U.S. Marine Corps. Or this pattern may be used as urban camouflage in U.S.Army. I’m not sure. I can see this kind of pattern in the police Special Forces.
I attached the parts of the microphone around his neck on the way. There are several kinds of camouflage patterns in the current United States Armed Forces; all patterns have fine dots.
I wanted to use decals for small things, including the military unit mark and nationality mark, but Echelon’s US Army & USMC decals were sold out everywhere. I tried them all in handwriting, but it was too complicated…
Handling the decal is difficult. I had trouble with Corsair II, which I made this May, and this insignia case. I wonder if I should get a plain decal sheet and print it myself. But it is a needed thermal printer that is hardly distributed.
I did the washing and dry brushing on a helmet, headphones, and knee pads.
This US national flag is one of the problematic points. I was able to describe it to understand it barely.
I traced the outline of the pocket and bulletproof vest with blackish paint to ensure recognition of the shape. They’re camouflaged clothes, so I think the line shouldn’t be understood. It’s proof of effective camouflage. But a slightly understandable shape is better for modeling effects.
Now, this shot is with the Stryker armored car, which I made a week ago. I think modern AFV is bigger than WWII-era one.
Compared to Stryker’s green, this uniform stands out. It’s like an urban camouflage pattern, so if the concrete is the background, maybe it becomes indistinct. I want to paint an ordinary figure which isn’t camouflaged next time.
