Kampfgruppe Peiper (Joachim Peiper & Staff, Ardennes 1944) Dragon 1/35 FIGURE GERMANY

The photo is better looking than this package. It is a figure of Joachim Peiper and his staff. I suppose Joachim Piper is the commander of the black leather jacket in the middle right.

There is a piece of paper to cut and use for the map. I think that it does not deteriorate if I spray a gloss coating.

The mold of the head was not good because it is a pretty old kit. I changed the head of the Master Box that I kept long before or switched to a resin-made head.
I made it halfway and was tired, so I thought it was thrown away when moving. It was still left in the cardboard. Since I was taking pictures, I thought I would make it someday by that time. I will change my mind and make a continuation. There are some other figure kits in the process of making, so may be able to introduce them one after another. If I still have motivation.

I wouldn’t say I like the old Dragon’s kit, as four heads are almost the same expression and mold. The head of the Master Box is deeply engraved, and their expressions are different. It looks easy to paint.

Three out of four soldiers have cigarettes in their hands. I used a 0.2 mm brass wire for cigarettes.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 MAKING

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 MAKINGIt is like an older man before being painted. Because the head has been exchanged, I cannot say he is Joachim Peiper. However, I did not think the original head looked like him.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 PAINTING I thought that the rough surface of Tamiya acrylic was exactly good because I wanted to paint the face with oil. Oil painting cannot be drawn well if the surface is too smooth. I blew the fresh Tamiya acrylic with the airbrush.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 PAINTING I just have blown the surfacer black. Not much meaning. It might be good if the figure wears black clothes, such as a tanker.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 PAINTINGAll four are in various uniforms.

Japan has just decided on the next imperial era name to be “Reiwa,” and there are a lot of topics. The name of this era is derived from the old Japanese classics, and I like it too.

Kampfgruppe Peiper (Joachim Peiper & Staff, Ardennes 1944) Dragon 1/35 Four military figures in the process of making have been completed.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK Joachim Peiper, commander of Waffen-SS, ended the war and was sentenced to death for alleged involvement in the Malmedy Massacre case. After 11 years in prison, he was reduced and released. Because he was a former Nazi SS officer, there were many harassments after the war, and it was a challenging environment. While living in France in 1976, somebody threw a flaming bottle at home, and he died.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK Joachim Peiper is a talented commander who won the Ritekreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub for his success in Italy.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK When I read back the black knight story of Motofumi Kobayashi from time to time, I would like to make such a figure. This book is already tattered. Maybe it is better to scan.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK It seems to be a leather coat, but black is not very interesting in a model from the top to the bottom.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK The ease of painting on the face is a little different from injection models. After all, the resin head is one step more precise. I can see it working in parallel.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK In particular, the luster of the camouflage-painted soldier has been left before finishing. I tried to blow the matte clear of Gaia Notes as a whole, but there was a part where the gloss remained.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK In the end, I did the rough work of mixing and brushing the flat base of Tamiya enamel in clear paint. It was necessary to work carefully because the flat base of Tamiya enamel remains white when one mistake is made. It is necessary to paint on unnecessary parts and runners in advance and check if it is too matte or too thick. Still, I can not trust much. It’s easy to get white if I paint thick with a brush.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORK I have reproduced the fine insignia as much as possible, so I think the degree of precision has risen.

KAMPFGRUPPE PEIPER DRAGON 1/35 FINISHED WORKI painted it in detail regarding the box picture, but it wasn’t easy. The illustration of Mr. Volstad is very helpful.
