If you scroll down below, you will find a picture of the body of my beloved cat. It’s not grotesque, but if you mind, please leave the page.

He just naps when he’s still healthy.

My beloved cat Munchkin Chai has passed away. Because of acute renal failure.

On the evening of December 3, the last time I reported, I mentioned that my cat had been suffering from acute renal failure for about a month. In the end, he died 24 hours after posting the blog. It was about 17:00 on December 4, 2024. I realized that his physical strength was gradually losing as he didn’t eat much. Even so, up until the day before he died, he had been patrolling most of the places he had been patrolling, jumping on my bed and climbing into the bay window space, so I thought he might live a few more days, but he didn’t. He stopped drinking water by himself, and he stopped swallowing even when I gave him a few water bottles to his mouth, and then he rapidly became weak. He died about 3 days after he stopped drinking water.

The reason I regret it is that even if I tried to force feed him to eat, he always vomited, and that may have caused his physical strength to be exhausted. Force-feeding sounds like torture, and I hate that word, but in short, I put liquid food in the cat’s mouth, and it’s the cat’s power to swallow, so it seems to be willing to eat. It was written on the internet or something that it wasn’t as painful as it sounds, but no, it must be painful after all. By that time, the internal organs might have already weakened and could not accept food. I made him vomit several times, so I made him use his physical strength.

At the end of the day, he could not stand on his own back legs, and his legs spread out like a gymnast, and he could not return them by himself. It seems that if I touch it carelessly at this time, he will die, but I couldn’t bear to see it, so I decided to let him curl up in the nail clipping circle. I think he was probably not conscious anymore. I thought he was sleeping quietly, but then he squealed loudly once, and then he became quiet as if something had slipped out. There was no heartbeat and everything stopped, so I knew he had just passed away.

I cut his hair in several places during IV drips and blood tests, and he went bald, so I was hoping that he would have enough hair to grow beautifully, but he passed away quite early.

He didn’t use this nail clipper circle at all, but he used it when he got sick and eventually died in it. He died last in this circle, which I purchased even before I welcomed the kitten.

He was getting cold after his death, so I put a fleece on him that he used usually kneading.

The funeral was held two days later on December 6. At first, I contacted a well-known pet funeral company on the nationwide network, but as I talked with them, they didn’t respond well and I didn’t feel like ordering them, so in the end, I asked the local Pet Memorial Yokohama Shonan. It was good that the person in charge who came was a rather friendly old man. They’re not too unfriendly or overly cheerful, and they probably change their behavior based on the situation of the pet’s family. In our case, I felt comfortable because they were a little cheerful and cremated peacefully.

It is said that it is good if your pet’s Adam’s apple remains clean. The reason is based on the idea of Buddhism that the shape of bones resembles the shape of Buddha, and it is said to be an old legend. The bone of Chai’s Adam’s apple remained in a very beautiful condition. I was told, “The more beautiful they are, the more grateful they are to their owners. Some pets bone fall apart. I think your pet is very grateful to the owner because he left it so beautifully this time.” I think the person in charge probably told me for comfort, but I was relieved a little.

He is cremated with flowers and pet food he often ate in his arms. At the end, he couldn’t eat anything, so I want him to eat plenty of delicious food over there.

I have to write his name on the urn and memorial tablet by myself, so if I write by hand, it will be dirty, so I printed it. I thought I could forgive the urn, but it would be better if the memorial tablet was dug properly by a machine, rather than printed paper. This is too poor. I think handwriting is definitely better even if the handwriting is dirty.

Also, I received this because I can put cat’s finger bones in a capsule to make a key chain. It has a cat finger bone in it. Well, I thought I didn’t have to do that much, but this kind of item is comforting when I feel discouraged.

When I’m sorting out all sorts of small cat toys, unconsciously locking the gas stove in the sink, opening the gap in the sliding door by about 5 centimeters, putting a door stopper on the door to prevent the cat from opening it by itself, and trying to figure out where the cat is in the room, I feel more nervous than when I’m making funeral arrangements. I think it will be much easier to change my mind if I organize a rather large pet items such as a cat tower, a toilet, and a carry bag when going to hospital.

I have nothing but gratitude for my beloved cat who has left now.
