Our cat, Chai, Munchkin, has loved strap-like toys and balls since he was a kitten. This purple felt ball had a feather at first, but Chai still played with it as his favorite even after it came off.
I’ve been looking for a giant felt ball but can’t find it. This ball is loosening up a lot and is a little small. About 2 cm in diameter can be purchased in large quantities. These are related to decoration materials.
It is pretty big if I take out the felt from the bag. It will be easily torn, and the fine hair will be fluffy.
I poked it lightly from all around, forming a sphere with a diameter of around 3cm. It takes a lot of time if you use only one felt puncher.
Finally, I gathered the five felt punchers I have now and held them with my fingers to harden them. You can buy a unique holder for several hundred yen, and there are various types of fixing needles, such as 3 or 5. I think it will make you less tired and have a smooth surface. But this time, I only need to make a felt ball once, so there is no problem with just a needle.
He seems to be very happy when I let him play. He is moving too fast.
About 7 cm in diameter would be enough. It will go under the bed or in various gaps and be hard to find if it is too small.
This toy will be one of his favorites for a while. I still have enough material to make it again when it crumbles. If you use five felt punchers, even an amateur takes 1 ~ 2 hours to make it.

I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build them little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see me here occasionally.
