I’m going to make an Airfix Messerschmitt. It seems to be available now, so it must be selling constantly. It is a tropical type fighter that was active in North Africa.
In the assembly instruction manual of the Airfix, the painting number is Humbrol, so first write down the color name and number of Vallejo and Cleos in the manual. And then it will be automatically converted in my brain, so the rest of the work will go a little smoother. For a while, it was troublesome to decide the color and research, so I kept opening the box of the Airfix kit and putting it back in the closet. Even now, it is bothersome to look up the color number.
I attached the main wing and it’s getting a slightly shaped. I re-engrave the parting line of the sanded part.
The inside of the cockpit isn’t complete yet, but I’ve got it in rough shape. I guess I’ll paint the entire cockpit after I do some work on it.
I don’t think the mold of this kit is very fine. The characteristics of the plastic material of the Airfix plastic model is that it is quite soft and dissolves quickly by pouring adhesive. This may vary depending on the modeler. I like it a little harder. For engine muzzles and mufflers, use a design knife or motor tool to shape the holes for better molding.

I thought the canopy would be closed, but I installed a seatbelt for a German warplane, which is sold separately. The seat belt is also molded on the chair, but it looks a little better than that. There was no meter decal on the cockpit panel, so I only lightly painted the mold. I think the inside of the meter panel is narrow, so it is almost impossible to see.
The canopy clear parts are not so well molded, but they are clear and beautiful. It is further divided into three parts with a small canopy, and there is a frame of its own, so the masking work is very detailed. If not as much as zero fighters. I can start painting soon, but just the other day it was so hot that I didn’t want to open the window, but recently it has become quite cold. I feel like the autumn is running away. But only for a moment.
I was reading a Japanese chess comic called “Ryu to Ichigo”, and it was so interesting that I couldn’t stop reading it. This writer is not very good at drawing, but his story is quite interesting. Even though I only know how to move shogi pieces, the fact that it’s so addictive makes it pretty popular with ordinary people without any knowledge of shogi.

When I read the painting manual carefully, there are quite a lot of things, and I have to paint bright colors. I thought I was going to put a decal on it, but the only way is to paint it. First, I painted the white to improve the bright color and the white belt on the body.
After that, I paint red and yellow. The color of RLM04 yellow doesn’t look so different from other yellows. The RLM23 red color is very different from the bright red color.
The lower surface of the fuselage is RLM65 light blue and partly the same color is used for the upper surface of the fuselage, so I airbrushed quite widely while checking the painting illustration.
I prepared the masking on the underside of the aircraft quite seriously. The mist of the airbrush sometimes goes around to the lower surface without realizing it.
Moving to the upper surface of the aircraft, the camouflage paint is RML02 gray and RLM71 gray. The main wing and the upper surface of the horizontal tail are camouflaged with clear color borders, so masking is essential. The side of the body is freehand, and light blue is mixed, so it’s a complicated camouflage pattern. The painting area is very small, but there are parts that need to be thinly blown and the air consumption is large. This kind of work is very cumbersome, but it’s interesting because it really feels like I’m building a German plane.

I was pasting decals and painting small parts. This decal is quite hard, but the color is very beautiful. The Mark Softer didn’t fit the surface very well, so I used hard softener for some parts. Then I’m going to blow semigros clear all over, stain a little, and finish. There are many detailed camouflage patterns, so it might be better not to weathering too much.
My cat hasn’t been eating much lately. I’ve been feeding him crunchy Purina One for several years, but he’s been eating poorly for about a week. I looked into whether it was a mouth disease, a bad stomach, or something strange that he ate, but in conclusion, I think he just got tired of his current food. I couldn’t help it, so I tried changing to Beauty Pro, and ate everything in a minute. His appetite for the new food is astonishingly high, and he may have just gotten tired of the previous food, which he rarely ate one meal for 24 hours. Is this what the cat owner said about the sudden stop eating? I still have 3 large bags of Purina One left, I really don’t know what’s going to happen. If he doesn’t eat even if I feed him alternately, I have no choice but to discard them. It was the first time I felt the risk of buying in bulk. I took out the Kotatsu (Japanese heated table) earlier than usual because there is a big temperature difference recently. My cat won’t move around Kotatsu anymore. The real winter is still a long way off, but is this all right?

The Messerschmitt Bf109E is finally completed. The Bf109E series was deployed in North Africa in early 1941. On the North African front, General Rommel’s Deutsches Afrikakorps was fighting the British army, and air support was essential.
In the open terrain of North Africa, there was a lot of fighting at high altitude, so the high climbing performance of the Bf109E was a big advantage.
It engages the Hawker Hurricane and the Super Marine Spitfire of the Royal Air Force (RAF). It is said that the Bf109E was able to have an air superiority in climbing performance and speed. In the early days of the North African front, the Luftwaffe took advantage of its superior pilots and aircraft capabilities to dominate air control. However, due to their short range, they could only operate near ground bases. Due to the harsh climate in North Africa, maintenance of engines and aircraft was difficult, and a decline in operating rates became an issue. But I think this was a similar problem with the Allies.
The markings are Neumann’s aircraft on the North African front from 1941 to 1942. JG27, Jagdgeschwader 27 ‘Afrika’. I mean, Eduard Neumann was the 5th JG27 Air Wing Commander.
Eduard Neumann (Eduard ‘Edu’ Neumann, June 5, 1911 – August 9, 2004) was an ace pilot in the Luftwaffe during World War II. As mentioned above, he commanded the famous 27 Fighter Wing “Africa” on the North African front from 1941 to 1943.
After briefly participating in the invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, the unit moved to Ain-El Ghazala in Libya in North Africa on April 18, 1941.Captain Neumann was awarded the German Cross Gold Medal on May 11, 1942 when he was Air Wing Commander.
Neumann was considered an effective field commander in the Luftwaffe, and as a fighter pilot he shot down 13 aircraft. In early 1945, he joined a group against Hermann Goering. His greatest achievement was to allow Hans Joachim Marseille to fly freely to practice his own tactics, shaping his war record. Marseille shot down 158 Allied planes on the Western Front.
The back of the plane is light blue, just like the usual German aircraft. It comes with a dustproof filter for desert climate.
In this kit, there are only basic decals, and the red, yellow and white parts are finished with paint. Even the fine decals have good color, and when I put all of them on, the precision was increased. However, the decal itself is a little hard.
Maybe because it is a European manufacturer, the Swastika of the vertical tail is not attached. You have no choice but to procure the decals sold separately by yourself. Asian manufacturers such as Academy and Hasegawa have a pattern of making Swastika by disassembling and sticking a cross.
So I’m glad that it was completed. Even 1/48, it’s quite a small fighter, but it’s worth making because there are many enjoyable painting processes.
