I will try to assemble a kit of the U.S. tank crew in northwestern Europe. They wear gloves and winter jumpers, and coats. Probably it was in the Netherlands, Belgium, and West Germany from the autumn of 1944 to the winter of 1945.
On the left is the original head, a soldier with a wild expression. This kit has five figures, of which four had replaced the head.
Even though I said to replace the head, the tank soldier headgear is tricky to cut and paste. A helmet soldier is relatively easy.
The Miniart parts list is such a simple one. It was a long time ago that I made a Miniart kit.
The painting indicated olive drab for the uniform, but the box art looks dark yellow or desert yellow. I will try to finish with a color close to Sand.

Since this kit does not include decals, there are only ways to draw or make decals by myself of detailed insignia and unit emblems. This time I used both. When there is a class mark on the helmet, the atmosphere of a high-rank officer comes out, and it is good. Maybe he is a captain?
Speaking of which, seeing “Band of Brothers,” Captain Sobel was an actor in the role of the TV Drama” Friends” ｗhen I first saw it, I had a sense of incongruity. I remember that Captain Sobel was bad in character, and spaghetti looked to taste awful. When I wrote it, I became wanting to see it again… Well, I’m surprised that Captain Sobel was a natural person. Moreover, it is surprising that Mr. David Schwimmer of” Friends” also resembles Captain Sobel.
The head chosen for this figure is quite a natural expression finished, and I like it very much.
This kit figure has many wrinkles in the uniform mold. If it’s a few wrinkles, it looks like a toy, so maybe It would be appropriate.
He is wearing a helmet on the hood of his work clothes. I chose a resin head with a laughing face; the eyes were too big. I thought the Westerners’ facial features were sharply chiseled but too wide-open eyes…
I think that it is common to match with a shaman tank. My stocks are Dragon’s M4A1, Tasca M4A1, the Red Army Sherman, and the IDF Super Sherman, so I tried combining the US crew with M4A1 Dragon Models to check the feeling.
Should Sherman Easy Eight and Sherman Jumbo match the crew in Ardennes? But since M4A1 fought from 1943 until the end of the war on the Italian front, I think there were many soldiers with winter equipment.
This soldier is the most relaxing. Because it is not just a standing figure, I tried it on the shaman. Because this shaman is before painting, there is no problem with the front-line setting anywhere. These figures seem to fit pretty closely with the Sherman tank.
All these tank soldiers are monotonous, with one color uniform of sand or dark yellow, so I used washing and dry brushing to change the tone. I think that work clothes and uniforms are dirtier and deteriorate if they fight with tanks for a long time. The tank soldiers appearing in the movie “Fury” are very dirty.
Looking at the overseas internet shopping site for tanker jackets, the new one looks olive drab and khaki drab. I saw the battlefield photos and second-hand jackets, which were many yellowish; I guess they are fading. I should have investigated these articles before building, not just after finishing a painting. I trusted box painting and painted that way! It seems to be better than the whole-body resin figure I made a while ago; I think this is not too bad.

I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build them little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see me here occasionally.

Nice. May I know what paint and its code you were using for uniform colour? I am learning to paint figure and exactly this figure kit is my first try. I had checked Aqueous H38 and it looks too dark for me, in my opinion.
Hello. There are two types of Creos paint, one is aqueous and the other is Mr. Color. Your comment H38 is an aqueous paint color name Steel Red, so I think it’s different. You mean probably Mr. color (lacquer paint) 38, is olive drab. I used to this figure Tamiya Acrylic XF-59 Dessert Yellow and XF-60 Dark Yellow mixed. The shadow part is not a pure color because it mixes gray. The latest 3 figures I used Vallejo. Vallejo is easier to paint than aqueous paint of Creos and Tamiya, only my impression. For Vallejo, I think it is a mixture of 70912 Tan Yellow, 70847 Dark Sand, 70819 Iraq Sand. (This Iraq Sand was used WWII British desert uniform.) I hope you find the right paint. I think to use the Google’s image search for tanker jacket and compare your paint, and use the similar colors. Choosing a color is one of the pleasures of modeling. Bye bye!!
